FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Marian University volleyball team extended its winning streak to five straight matches and improved to 4-0 in Crossroads League play after the Knights earned a grueling five-set victory at the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) on Wednesday night.

The Knights moved to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in league play for the first time after a 25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 25-27, 15-9 victory over the Cougars at the Hutzell Athletic Center.

Sophomore Megen Ruff led the Knights on offense with a double-double. The Greenfield, Ind., native tallied a match-high 14 kills and a team-high 23 digs in the five-set match. Senior Ashley Francis continued her torrid hitting with 13 kills and a .370 attack percentage. During the five-match winning streak, Francis is hitting .453 with 57 kills and just nine errors. Junior Morgan Merrill also had a great match with 10 kills, while junior Becky Gramer added seven kills and sophomore Donala Arnold added six kills.

The reigning Crossroads League Setter of the Week and junior Kacie Kelly tallied 44 assists for the Knights. She also added four kills and 18 digs as well as two block assists in defense.

The Knights tallied seven service aces, but the defense was vital to the win. In addition to Ruff's 23 digs, junior Katie Kaiser added 21 digs and senior Jaymee Singleton also added 14 digs. The Knights finished with 6.5 total blocks with Francis having a solo block and six block assists. Ruff also added two block assists.

The win sets up a showdown between two of three Crossroads League teams that are currently undefeated in league play on Friday night. The Knights will host No. 18-ranked Taylor University (9-2; 4-0 CL) on Friday night at the Physical Education Center.
