INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian University volleyball team had a challenge on its hands on Saturday evening when No. 10-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University came to the Physical Education Center.

The Knights could not overcome a strong IWU attack in a 10-25, 21-25, 19-25 defeat to the Wildcats. MU fell to 8-6 overall and 6-3 in the Crossroads League while IWU moved to 15-1 overall and 8-1 in league play.

Sophomore Megen Ruff led the MU attack with 13 kills, but the Knights mustered just a .135 hitting percentage. They had 36 kills and 18 hitting errors in the match. Junior Morgan Merrill added eight kills and had a team-high .444 hitting percentage, while junior Becky Gramer added seven kills.

Junior Kacie Kelly tallied 31 assists, while Gramer notched a team-high 15 digs in defense. Kelly added 10 digs and senior Jaymee Singleton tallied 11 digs for MU.

The Knights will step out of league play for the Indiana Tech/Indiana Wesleyan Crossover in Fort Wayne, Ind. MU will take on Indiana Tech on Friday at 2 p.m. before facing No. 23 Cornerstone (Mich.) at 4 p.m. They will then face Saint Xavier (Ill.) at 12 p.m. on Saturday before closing the tournament against Aquinas College at 2 p.m.
