ORLANDO, Fla. - The Marian University men's tennis team improved to 13-4 on the season after picking up an 8-1 win over the College of Saint Scholastica on Monday afternoon in Orlando, Fla.

The Knights are now 2-0 on their spring trip and are 13-4 on the season, which is the most wins in a season since a 12-3 year in 2007-08.

MU swept through the doubles competition as freshman Jason Denton and junior Ryan Hodell teamed for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles before junior Nick Batuello and sophomore Mitchell Trammel earned an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. Junior Tyler Scanlan and freshman Jack Hiatt teamed for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles to give MU a 3-0 lead after doubles.

Denton moved to 9-5 on the season with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, while freshman Ryan Heuer moved to 6-10 in 2012-13 after a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. Hiatt improved to 14-0 on the year with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles, while Trammel moved to 15-1 in 2012-13 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles. Freshman Taylor Kinney earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles for his third win of the year. Scanlan dropped to 9-4 in 2012-13 after a 6-3, 4-6, 7-10 defeat at No. 4 singles.

The Knights will take on Valparaiso University at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Star Island in Orlando, Fla.
