ORLANDO, Fla. - The Marian University men's tennis team made it three straight victories on its annual spring trip as the Knights defeated Augustana College by a 5-4 score at Oak Street Tennis Club in Orlando, Fla., on Thursday afternoon.

The Knights moved to 14-4 overall with the win, while the Vikings dropped to 4-3 on the year.

MU took a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition as freshman Ryan Heuer and sophomore Mitchell Trammel teamed for a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles. Junior Nick Batuello and freshman Taylor Kinney teamed at No. 3 doubles for an 8-2 win to give MU a 2-0 lead. Freshman Jason Denton and junior Ryan Hodell dropped their match at No. 1 doubles by a 3-8 count to keep the Vikings in the contest.

Trammel improved to 16-1 in 2012-13 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to give MU a 3-1 lead. Denton earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles to move to 10-5 on the year and gave MU a 4-1 lead. Freshman Jack Hiatt sealed the match for the Knights as he improved to 15-0 on the season with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Heuer dropped his match at No. 2 singles, 4-6, 6-7 (3-7), while junior Tyler Scanlan fell at No. 4 singles, 6-7 (5-7), 0-6. Kinney dropped his first match of the year in a three-set affair, 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, 4-10, at No. 6 singles to make the final score 5-4 in favor of the Knights.

MU will close its spring trip with a 9 a.m. match against Judson University (Ill.) (1-7) at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., on Friday.
