Schendel gave MU a 4-3 lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles before sophomore Hannah Knust fell at No. 1 singles, 1-6, 4-6, to make it 4-4 after eight matches.

The decisive point came at No. 3 singles and it turned out to be a highly competitive match. Potter, who was 12-4 coming into the match, took the first set 7-6 (9-7) before dropping the second set 3-6. She was able to give MU the win with a 12-10 victory in the 10-point tiebreaker in the third set to improve to 13-4 on the year and give MU the 5-4 victory.
