INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 21-ranked Marian University women's tennis team continued its strong start to the 2013-14 season with an 8-1 win over the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) on Tuesday afternoon at the MU Tennis Courts.

The Knights are now 6-0 on the season and 5-0 in Crossroads League play for the fourth straight season.

Leading 2-0 after the Cougars were forced to default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, MU utilized the first three matches on the court to seal the win. Senior Brittney Horlacher and junior Hannah Knust earned an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles after seniors Lauren Paras and Olivia Pursell earned an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Anna Potter sealed the team win with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to make it 5-0.

Horlacher and Knust are now 11-2 on the year, while Paras and Pursell moved to 6-1 in 2013. Potter improved to 8-2 on the year with the win.

Knust picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, while Paras earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Knust moved to 9-1 on the year, while Paras improved to 7-2.

Pursell earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, while Horlacher could not overcome an early deficit in a 6-7 (4-7), 2-6 defeat at No. 1 singles. Pursell is now 5-3 on the year, while Horlacher dropped to 8-3 in 2013.

The Knights will tangle with DePauw University on Wednesday afternoon in Greencastle, Ind., before MU closes out the 2013 league season with three straight home matches. First serve from DePauw is at 4:30 p.m.
