MARION, Ind. – The Marian University men's tennis team moved to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in Crossroads League play after falling to Indiana Wesleyan, 6-3, on Tuesday.

In doubles play, the Knights picked up one victory at No. 2 where freshman Danny Albert and junior Mitchell Trammel defeated the Wildcats' Leonard Mathews and Gavin White, 8-2. Freshman Marty Pochop and sophomore Jason Denton teamed up at No. 1 doubles where they were defeated, 8-2. Senior Nick Batuello and sophomore Taylor Kinney were the first ones off the court on Tuesday as they fell at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.

In singles play, No. 1 through No. 4 were defeated for MU. Denton played a tough match at No. 2, however, eventually fell 7-6(3), 6-3. The Knights picked up their last two victories of the afternoon at No. 5 and No. 6. Junior Mitchell Trammell continued his winning ways at No. 5 by defeating Daniel Smith 6-0, 6-2. The victory for Trammell on Tuesday moved him to nine victories in singles play this season, which leads the Knights. At No. 6, sophomore Ryan Heuer picked up a victory after defeating Adam Wroughton 6-1, 7-5.

After Tuesday, MU is now poised to finish within the top three of the Crossroads League. However, this is all dependent on the Knights ability to defeat Grace on September 26. A victory on Thursday would give Coach Steve Mackell back-to-back top three finishes in the regular season. The Knights haven't defeated Grace since the 2009 season and were bounced from the league tournament last year by the Lancers.

The Knights will be back in action on September 26 when they head to Winona Lake, Ind., to face Grace College.
