WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Marian University men's tennis team fell in their final regular season match to Grace on Thursday, 6-3. The Knights have finished the regular season with a 6-4 overall record and a 5-3 record in the Crossroads League.
The Knights, 5-3, league record has earned them the No. 4 seed in the upcoming league tournament.
The Knights were swept in doubles play on Thursday as No. 1 through No. 3 doubles lost 8-6, 8-3 and 8-4, respectively. Sophomore Jason Denton
and Marty Pochop
played the closest match at No. 1.
MU's three victories came at No. 2 through No. 4 singles. First, Denton won at No. 2 in a 6-4, 6-3 match. Then, freshman Marty Pochop
picked up MU's second win on the afternoon, after he defeated the Lancers' Jacob Stump 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Lastly, sophomore Jack Hiatt
played in a close match at No. 3, where he eventually won 7-5, 7-5.
The Knights will be back in action Oct. 1 when they host the first round of the Crossroads League Tournament against Goshen.
