INDIANAPOLIS - The 21st-ranked Marian University women's tennis team landed three student-athletes on the All-Crossroads League team for the 2013 season, the league office announced on Monday.

Head coach Cassie Mackell was also named the Crossroads League Coach of the Year for the third time in her six seasons at the helm of the MU program. Mackell has amassed a record of 87-41 during her tenure at MU and has guided the Knights to a 36-12 record in league play over her career. Mackell has led the Knights to three straight runner-up finishes in league play and three consecutive runner-up finishes in the league tournament.

Senior Brittney Horlacher was named to the all-league team for the second straight season after another stellar campaign. Horlacher finished her senior league season with a 13-5 record in the fall and went 5-3 in league play. She was 9-4 in dual match competition and played all 13 matches at No. 1-singles. She closed the fall with a 58-32 career record in singles play and finished her league career with a 20-11 record between No. 3- and No. 1-singles. She finished the 2012-13 season as the 14th-ranked player in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region rankings and earned a berth in the semifinals of the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich., last month.

Junior Hannah Knust earned her third straight all-league selection after another strong season at No. 2-singles. Knust finished the fall season with an 11-6 overall record and a 6-2 mark in league play. She went 8-5 in dual matches and was 3-1 at the ITA regional championships. She currently has a career record of 44-21 in all singles matches and has an 18-5 mark all-time in league play. She finished the 2012-13 season as the 12th-ranked player in the ITA East Regional rankings and earned a berth in the quarterfinals at her first ITA championship last month. After last season, Knust was named the ITA East Region Player to Watch after her strong campaign as a sophomore.

Senior Lauren Paras was named to the all-league team for the second time in her career and the first since her freshman season. Paras finished the 2013 fall season with an 11-5 overall record and was one of two unbeatens in league play at 8-0. She was 10-3 in dual matches this season with a 6-0 record at No. 3-singles and a 4-3 mark at No. 4-singles. Over her career, Paras has amassed a 59-30 overall singles record and is a stunning 27-4 all-time in league play. She has played all six positions during her career and spent the majority of her career at No. 3- and No. 4-singles. This season, she went 1-2 at the ITA East Region championship and earned berth in the second round of the consolation draw.
 
"I am excited for Brittney, Hannah and Lauren to be recognized among our league," said Mackell. "Brittney and Hannah have been our top players for the past few years and among the elite in the league. Lauren has been a big contributor to our team the past four years and it's nice to see her be recognized her senior year."

It is the third straight season in which MU has had three student-athletes represent the team as all-league selections. Last season, MU had four players selected to the team.

The Knights will get the spring season underway in early March when they head to Florida for their annual spring trip. MU will be looking to earn an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championships that take place in Mobile, Ala., on May 14-17.
