INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian University volleyball team's 2013 season came to a close on Tuesday night after the fourth-seeded Knights dropped its first round match with fifth-seeded Grace College in the opening round of the 2013 Crossroads League Tournament at the Physical Education Center in Indianapolis.

The Knights fell in four sets, 19-25, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25, to the Lancers to close the 2013 season with an 18-11 overall record and a 12-6 mark in league play.

Senior Becky Gramer tallied a double-double with 13 kills, a team-high, and 14 digs. Freshman Lauren Gregory tallied 12 kills, while junior Megen Ruff also finished with 12 kills. Senior Kacie Kelly notched 46 assists and had a solo block and four block assists.

Freshman Taylor Greenan, this week's Crossroads League Libero of the Week, added to her single-season school record in digs with a team-high 26 to give her 577 digs in her rookie campaign. Senior Katie Kaiser added 14 digs in the defeat for MU.

It was the second time in three years that MU has hosted the opening round of the league tournament and the second straight time the Knights have suffered a four-set defeat.

Second-year head coach Ashlee Pritchard and the Knights fought through a season that was plagued with injuries and saw MU down to six players near the end of the season. She is now 32-24 in her two seasons as head coach.
