BOURBANNAIS, Ill. – The Marian University men's tennis team fell on Tuesday to No. 23-ranked Olivet Nazarene in Bourbannais, Ill., 6-3. Tuesday's match marked the fifth time this spring the Knights had faced an opponent ranked or receiving votes in the top-25 coaches' poll.

The day didn't start off in favor of the Knights as MU was swept in doubles play. Freshman Danny Albert and sophomore Taylor Kinney were defeated first at No. 2 doubles, 8-4. Following behind them were sophomore Jason Denton and freshman Marty Pochop who fell 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Finishing off doubles play for the Knights was Freshman T. Grant Cunningham and senior Nick Batuello who fell 8-3.

The Knights were able to add three victories in singles play at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 6. Denton first defeated Navarro Veys at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-2. Olivet then won the next three matches, as sophomore Jack Hiatt fell at No. 2 - 6-0, 6-4, Pochop dropped at No. 4 - 6-4, 6-4 and Kinney fell at No. 5 - 6-2, 6-1. The last two to finish in singles play were Albert and sophomore Ryan Heuer. Albert won at No. 3 - 6-3, 6-4, while Heuer took No. 6 - 6-4, 6-2.

The Knights will be back in action on April 14 at the MU Tennis Courts when they face Anderson University. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
