INDIANAPOLIS – The Marian University volleyball team dropped its season opener against non-conference opponent Indiana University – Kokomo in four sets, 21-25, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25 at the Physical Education Center in Indianapolis, IN. 

The Knights found themselves one step behind in overall hitting percentage (.275 to .247) as well as in reception errors (5 to 7). They also struggled putting the ball in play with 11 service errors.

 

Twelve of Marian's thirteen player roster played over the course of the evening. On the offensive side of the net, freshman McKenzie Mason led the Knights with 14 kills. Defensively, sophomore Taylor Greenan notched 14 digs. Sophomore Maddie Heidenreich and freshman Julie Hoying tallied 22 serves and 19 serves, respectively.

 

The Knights will travel up to Marion, Indiana to compete in the IWU Labor Day Challenge on August 29th and 30th
