ROME, Georgia - The Marian College men's golf team opened its 2009 spring season with the Rome News-Tribune Invitational in Rome, Georgia.
The Knights finished 12th out of 26 teams in what head coach
John Shelton described as a "strong opening effort for our team."
The team tied for the second-best score on the second day as it shot a 297 after bringing home a 316 on day one for a two-day total of 613.
Senior
Jacob Murray (Logansport, Indiana/Logansport) led the way for the Knights after he carded a 150 (76-74). He finished tied for 30th. Freshman
Sean Jones (Indianapolis/North Central) carded a 151 (77-74) and was just one shot off Murray's pace. He finished tied for 33rd.
Senior
Evan Brown (New Albany, Indiana/New Albany) came into the clubhouse with a 152 (79-73), which was good enough for a tie for 38th place.
Junior
Luke Weber (North Vernon, Indiana/Jennings County) carded a 160 (84-76) and finished tied for 80th while sophomore
Charlie Babcock (Middlebury, Indiana/Northride) came into the clubhouse with a 171 (85-86).
The Knights head to Cumberland University in Kentucky on March 26 and 27 for the Cumberland Invitational.
