CHICAGO, Ill. - The Crossroads League Champion and 25th ranked Men's Tennis team fell to 15-8 on Friday, April 15th as they lost a tough match at No. 18-ranked Olivet Nazarene University, 8-1. 

The Knights got off to a quick start in doubles, as freshman, Alex Wittenbaum and junior, Danny Albert defeated the top ten regionally ranked doubles team of Alfonso Martinez and Tyler Cannan 8-5 at second doubles. This quickly put the Knights up 1-0.

            Soon after, seniors Jack Hiatt and Taylor Kinney lost a tough match at third doubles by a score of 8-1 and the junior-senior combination of Marty Pochop and Jason Denton lost a tightly contested match at first doubles by a score of 8-5. This put the Knights down 2-1 going into singles play.

            Singles was highly competitive on all six singles courts. After hearing word that he had received his highest career ranking (23), Denton was faced with a tough match at #1 singles against the third ranked NAIA player in the country, Oscar Cornella. He came up short and was defeated 6-1,6-4.

            Pochop, Hiatt, and freshman Nathan Bogle also had tough singles matches at the second through fourth positions respectively. Pochop and Bogle both took straight set losses, and Hiatt battled hard in an eventual three set loss. Albert and Kinney rounded out singles competition by both dropping tightly contested matches at the five and six singles positions.

            Overall, the Knights took positives out of the match, as they have already clinched their spot to nationals on May 17th in Mobile Alabama.
