INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian College softball team continued its run of victories as it swept Urbana University on Thursday afternoon by matching 2-1 scores at Marian College Softball Field.
The Knights have now won 11 straight contests and improved to 18-4 on the season.
Both games were pitching duels that were decided in the game's final inning. In game one, neither team was able to get on the scoreboard through the first five innings.
The Knights broke through in the bottom of the sixth as sophomore Mallory Ortwein (Anderson, Indiana/Anderson)
hit her eighth home run of the season over the center field fence to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
Urbana matched the Knights in the top of the sixth as the Blue Knights converted two doubles into a run to tie the ballgame, 1-1.
The Knights came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh and junior Angie Such (Brownsburg, Indiana/Brownsburg)

into scoring position.
After a sharp lineout, sophomore Chelsea Bell (Indianapolis/Franklin Central)
ripped an RBI-double that scored Campbell with the game-winning run to make the final score, 2-1.

after the Knights scored a run in the bottom of the fourth.
An infield single by freshman Brittany Camp (Kokomo, Indiana/Kokomo)
led off the inning, and Ortwein hit an RBI-single to give the Knights the 1-0 lead.
After a scoreless fifth inning, the Blue Knights broke through with an unearned run to tie the game, 1-1, and push Corum out of the running for the decision.
The Knights were held in check in the bottom of the sixth and Roth was able to get out of a jam in the top of the seventh to set the tone for more drama.
A single by junior Chelsea Young (Brownsburg, Indiana/Brownsburg)
was followed by an infield single by Campbell to put runners on first and second with two outs.
Camp walked to load the bases and Bell came through again with an RBI-single to give the Knights the 2-1 victory.
Bell and Ortwein each drove in the runs in game two as well to lead the Knights. Campbell finished 2-for-3 in game two.
