INDIANAPOLIS – After winning its final two games in Chicago this past weekend, the Marian volleyball team continued its winning streak with a 3-1 victory over Goshen Wednesday night on John Grimes Court. The Knights have won three matches in a row and are now 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the Crossroads League.


Marian earned a hard-fought victory in the first set, winning 29-27 in a back-and-forth affair. Goshen responded with a 25-20 win in the second set, but the Knights won the third set 25-22 and the fourth set 25-18.

The Knights jumped out to a large lead in the third set, but the Maple Leafs battled back to within one at 17-16. However, Marian responded by scoring eight of the next 14 points for the pivotal win. A relatively swift fourth set sealed the win for the Knights.

Three players recorded double-digit kills for Marian, led by AlyxaKay Shields with 12. Ericka Ham added 11, while Frannie Stephenson contributed 10. After a fantastic weekend in Chicago, Vanessa Lay was great again for the Knights, recording 28 digs and eight assists.

Julie Hoying led Marian with 22 assists and added 14 digs, while Madi Heffron finished with 18 assists. Megan Hawley recorded 10 digs for the Knights.
