INDIANAPOLIS – The Marian volleyball team fell to Taylor 3-0 Friday at the PE Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, in a Crossroads League match. The loss drops Marian to 9-6 on the season and 2-3 in the conference.


All three sets were close with Taylor's largest margin of victory coming in the first set, 25-19. Marian held multiple-point leads in the next two sets, but lost 25-23 in both. It's the second time this season the Knights have been beaten in three sets by a conference opponent.

AlyxaKay Shields led Marian with 10 kills and two digs. Both Julie Hoying and Madi Heffron recorded double digit assists with 19 and 10, respectively. Vanessa Lay finished with a team-high 13 digs, while Megan Hawley chipped in with 10.

Frannie Stephenson recorded a game-high four blocks with two solos and two assists and Anne Strevels had three block assists on the night. The Knights recorded 126 total attacks compared to Taylor's 114, but committed 23 errors compared to the Trojans' 20.
