INDIANAPOLIS – The Marian volleyball team ended their three-game losing streak on Wednesday night, as the Knights swept the Bethel College Pilots 3-0. The win improves the Knights record to 10-7 overall on season and 3-4 in Crossroads League play.

Marian took the first set of the match in a dominating fashion, winning 25-15. Marian rode the momentum of the opening frame to take the second set 25-21. The Knights faced adversity in the third set, as Bethel changed their lineup, forcing Marian to make adjustments to stay on top. Marian and Bethel, whose record falls to 7-11 on the season (3-4 Crossroads League), played back and forth until the score was knotted at 14. Marian then surged ahead and never looked back, as they won the final set 25-23.

Leading the way for the Knights was Anne Strevels, who lead the team in kills, service aces and blocks, with 12, three, and one, respectively. Julie Hoying lead Marian in assists with 20, while Madi Heffron added 14 assists also. Senior libero Vanessa Lay led the Knights with 10 digs, with fellow senior Maddie Heidenreich notching seven digs in the match.

Marian goes on the road this upcoming weekend to northern Indiana for a pair of Crossroad League matches. The Knights take on St. Francis (Ind.) on Friday night at 7 pm in Fort Wayne, then will head to Winona Lake for a Saturday afternoon matchup versus Grace College. Saturday's contest begins at 3 pm.
