INDIANAPOLIS – After trading the first two sets of the match, the Indiana Wesleyan volleyball team took the next two from Marian and defeated the Knights 3-1 Wednesday on John Grimes Court in Indianapolis. The loss drops Marian to 11-9 on the season and 4-6 in the Crossroads League.


The Wildcats extended their record to 19-1 and jumped out to an early lead by taking the first set 25-15. Marian bounced back in the second set, winning 25-22, but IWU dominated the next two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-14 to win the match.

Marian fell behind in the third and fourth sets, allowing IWU to go ahead 8-0 in the third and 8-2 in the fourth. The Knights were unable to recover both times.

Frannie Stephenson led the way with 12 kills to go along with three block assists, while AlyxaKay Shields and Hannah Trout chipped in with eight and five kills, respectively. Julie Hoying led Marian with 19 assists and Madi Heffron added 14. The Knights had a pair of players with double figure digs as Vanessa Lay recorded 26 and Maddie Heidenreich totaled 13. Emily Graves finished with four block assists.
