Tamara Ammons-Jones has been named the dance coach.
INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of Tamara Ammons-Jones as the head coach for the Marian College dance team.
    
Ammons-Jones brings a strong background in choreography as well as dance to the position. She has been a member of the Indiana Pacemates since July of 2008 and has an extensive background in dance.
 
A graduate of Purdue University, Ammons-Jones served as the Purdue University dance team captain during her senior year and spent time as the head choreographer for the Purdue University Black Cultural Center. During her time at Purdue, she served as the student coordinator for the Purdue University Black Cultural Center for three years, and she served as an event planner for two years. Her extensive dance background was cultivated as a member of the Fever Inferno Hip Hop Squad with which she spent a little of three years. She is currently a volunteer with Jahari Dance Troupe.
 
Her experience is not limited to dance. She is currently an events intern with the Purdue University Development/Alumni Relations office. She served as a promotions intern at WLFI Channel 18 in West Lafayette in 2007 and was a co-coordinator for an Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity pageant.
 
Ammons-Jones graduated from Purdue University in 2008 with a bachelor of arts degree in communications and a minor in dance.
 
The Marian College dance team performs at football, men's basketball, and women's basketball games and recently performed at Conseco Fieldhouse at halftime of an Indiana Pacers game.
