SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Marian men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Bethel Invitational Friday in South Bend, Indiana, as the men earned a first place finish, while the women placed eighth out of 14 teams.


The fifth-ranked men's team narrowly defeated Taylor, finishing with 70 points compared to Taylor's 71. The two teams dominated the field, separating themselves from all other challengers. Aquinas finished third with 93 points.

Gabriel Ocasio crossed the line first for the Knights, which had three top ten finishers. Ocasio's time of 25:40 was good enough for fifth place, while Lucas Sullivan finished seventh at 25:44 and Isaak Haas finished ninth with a time of 25:51. Chandler Ball picked up a top 20 finish, coming in 19th with a time of 26:07.

Thomas Revard was the fifth Marian finisher, crossing the line in 26:27 for a 30th place finish. Matt Everling and Jackson Naylor-Cook also ran for the Knights, finishing with times of 27:03 and 27:13, respectively.

On the women's side, Marian placed eighth with an average time of 20:03 and 231 points. Aquinas finished first with 41 points and Taylor came in second with 58. St. Xavier, Indiana Tech and Indiana Wesleyan rounded out the top five.

Sarah Wieser once again finished first for the Knights with a time of 19:30, which was good for a 30th place finish. Rachel Dever crossed the line in 19:52, which placed her 37th. Keirsten Schrope finished 44th with a time of 20:00, while Brittany Sharp picked up a 55th place finish at 20:20. Jenna Hedlund finished 65th with a time of 20:34.

Monica Dudley and Anna Dudley also ran for the Knights, finishing with times of 20:54 and 20:55, respectively.
