INDIANAPOLIS – The Marian men's and women's bowling teams competed at the AHIBC I II this past weekend in Columbus, Ohio. The men finished eighth among 27 teams, while the women finished third in a field of 20 teams.

The Marian men had a game-high of 1,116 pins and knocked down 6,860 for the weekend. Notre Dame (Ohio) won with 7,441 pins and eclipsed 1,000 in four games. The Knights beat Big Ten foes Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State.

Individually, Sam Atkinson was the high man for the Knights with 852 pins and a 213 average. His high game came in the final with a 268. Michael Smith also picked up a top 20 finish at 13th with 835 pins. He averaged 208.75 pins and recorded a high game of 256. Brian Edwards was consistent across the four games with a high of 210 and low of 196 and placed 31st.

Dakota Partain and Patrick Huebschman tied with 775 pins, while Zach Kelly recorded 701 pins and Baylen Shoemaker recorded 690.

For the women, the Knights were third with 6,352 pins, which was only eight behind second-place Ursuline. Wright State won with 6,657 pins. The Marian women recorded a high game of 902.

Taylor Davis recorded the high score individually with 800. Davis recorded a high of 211 in the second game and finished with a 209. She defeated Siena Heights' Tiffany Logan by one pin to win the competition. Lindsay Layman finished 12th with 748 pins, while Ashley Kaase recorded a score of 710 in 24th place.

Kayla Vernon bowled a 696, while Sarah Martin recorded a 683. Aubree Trexler was two behind her, while Jessica Neu finished with a 635.
