Marion, Ind. – The Marian volleyball team's 2016 campaign came to an end Wednesday night following a 3-0 loss to No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan in the Crossroads League volleyball tournament semifinal. The loss gives Marian a final record of 22-12 for the season.

No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan won tonight's match with set scores of 25-17, 25-12, and 25-19.

The Wildcats led 12-9 in the first set before extending their lead to nine, ultimately taking the set 25-17. Indiana Wesleyan was in total control in the second set, as they took a wire-to-wire second set victory, 25-12. Not wanting their season to end, the Knights did everything they could to keep the match alive in the third set. Marian battled, working to keep the score within five points the entire set; however, their efforts fell short as Indiana Wesleyan kept the lead and won the match to advance in the Crossroads League tournament.

Frannie Stephenson led Marian in kills, finishing with 12, while also recording four digs. Julie Hoying was the leading passer for the Knights, as she led the way with 18 assists and nine digs.

Vanessa Lay topped the Knights in digs, as she added 19 more digs to her single-season digs record. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
