FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Marian wrestling team competed in its first dual competition Saturday at the Warrior Duals, picking up wins over Davenport (Mich.) and Calumet (Ind.), while falling to Indiana Tech and Lindsey-Wilson in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Knights opened the day with a trio of wins. Marian defeated Davenport 30-24 and later defeated Davenport again. Logan Dilbeck picked up an 8-5 win by decision, while Logan Hurley defeated Cole Menck by fall in 49 seconds. Trezdon O'Neal won by decision, while Charlie Hill and Zach Worm each won by fall.
Marian followed with a 33-16 win over Calumet. Hurley and Chris Sharp each won by forfeit, while Brett Johnson won by sudden victory and Riley McClurg won by fall in 3:17. Hill and Worm each earned a win by fall as well to move to 2-0 on the day.
The Knights faced two quality opponents to finish the day as they fell to Lindsey Wilson and Indiana Tech. Lindsey Wilson doubled up the Knights, winning 26-13. Johnson won by major decision and Worm won by decision, but those would be Marian's only wins outside of a forfeit at the 133 weight class.
Against Indiana Tech, Worm picked up the lone win for Marian, moving to 4-0 on the day with an 8-6 decision over Trevor Yank.
The Knights will compete at the Midwest Classic at UIndy this Saturday and Sunday.
