INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off of a 48-12 season with a trip to the NAIA World Series, the Marian softball team will enter the 2017 campaign with high expectations. The Knights are ranked seventh in the nation in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 poll.

Marian rolled over Crossroads League competition last season, finishing 31-4 and winning both the regular season and league tournament titles. The Knights then finished 4-3 in the National Tournament, winning the Lindsey Wilson bracket before bowing out to No. 1 Oklahoma City and No. 3 St. Gregory's.

Logan Personett and Breena Smith will lead the Knights after stellar 2016 seasons. Personett was named the Crossroads League Player of the Year and an NAIA Second Team All-American, while Smith was named the Crossroads League Pitcher of the Year.

The Knights will open the season Feb. 25 at IU-Southeast before heading south to Florida for eight games.
