INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian men's basketball team led for roughly 30 minutes of game action Tuesday night, but a late comeback from Grace handed Marian a 70-68 loss. The Knights are now 12-15 overall and 3-12 in the Crossroads League.

After a slow start though the first three minutes, Marian's offense woke up and went on a 16-2 run to take a 19-12 lead eight minutes into the game. Wes Stowers poured in nine early points to help the cause and the Marian defense forced five turnovers in the span. Later in the half, KC Earls connected on a 3-pointer to give Marian a 13-point lead, it's largest of the half.

Grace chipped away at the lead and closed within six with 2:20 to play in the half. Marian answered with a bucket, but a 3-pointer from Charlie Warner brought Grace within five with a minute to play. Marian took the five-point lead into the locker room and finished the half shooting 43 percent from the field. Stowers finished the half with 11 points, while Derek Hawthorne chipped in with eight.

While the Knights extended the lead to double digits early in the half, Grace responded with a min-run and trimmed the lead back to five with 14 minutes to play. Grace was unable to bring it within five for much of the half as Marian held the Lancers at bay. Trailing by seven after the under-eight media timeout, Grace responded with a 9-2 run and took its first lead since the 15:47 mark of the first half.

The Lancers pushed their lead to as much as seven, but back-to-back buckets from Stowers trimmed the lead to three with 1:51 to play. The Lancers maintained the lead with quality free-throw shooting down the stretch, but with 26 seconds to play, Sam Guymon buried a 3-pointer to trim it to four. On the ensuing inbounds pass, Guymon tipped the pass and James Crowley picked up it up. He found Stowers for a lay-up and the deficit was two.

After Grace split a pair of free throws, Marian came down with a chance to tie, but a pass to Stowers was mishandled and the Knights were unable to get a shot off.

Marian will travel to Huntington for a 3 p.m. tipoff Saturday afternoon. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
