HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Marian men's basketball team shot 56 percent in the first half and rode the hot-shooting to a 77-60 road win at Huntington Saturday in Huntington, Indiana. The win makes the Knights 13-15 overall and 4-12 in the Crossroads League.

Wes Stowers keyed a 12-2 run for the Knights to open the game. The point guard scored six points during the run, finishing two in transition, while Patrick Bell chipped in with four. After a timeout, Huntington's offense woke up a bit, but KC Earls came off the bench hot, drilling two threes to make it 20-12 with 12 minutes to play.

While Huntington relied on its size inside, the Knights continued to shoot it well from deep as Earls, Stowers and Curtis Green hit threes to keep Marian ahead by 14 with 8:30 to play. The hot shooting was contagious as everyone contributed, leading to a 19-point lead with five to play. The lead was Marian's largest of the half, but Huntington responded with an 13-2 run to trim the lead to eight with two minutes to play.

The half ended with Stowers hitting another three to make it 45-34 at the break. Marian was 7-of-12 from beyond the arc in the half and both teams shot 56 percent. Stowers led all scorers with 16 points in the half and finished 7-for-9 from the field.

Halftime did little to cool the Knights off as Marian's offense was still clicking to start the second. A beautiful pass from Andrew Jordan to Sam Guymon put Marian up by 17 with 12 minutes to play. Though Huntington brought the lead down to 12 or 14 a few times, the Knights would not allow them any closer for the rest of the game.

Offense came from everywhere as the Knights closed out the Foresters down the stretch. Three Marian players finished in double figures with Stowers's 24 leading the way. He grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists as well. Green chipped in with 14 points and five rebounds, while Earls had 13 points. Guymon added eight points and five rebounds, while Patrick Bell scored seven points to go along with eight rebounds.

Marian shot 44 percent and won the rebounding battle 35-33. The Knights also forced 15 Huntington turnovers.

The Knights will travel to Bethel Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. tip. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
