INDIANAPOLIS – The Marian men's and women's bowling teams hosted the Hoosier Classic at Western Bowl this weekend in Indianapolis. The women placed ninth in a field of 66 teams, while the men placed 42nd in a field of 78 teams.
For the women, the Knights knocked down 8,447 pins, which was six pins out of eighth place. Marian averaged 938 pins per contest and was led by Taylor Davis who finished 17th with 1,228 pins and an average of 204 per game.
Angela Leap and Aubree Trexler finished in the top 100 as well as Leap racked up 1,137 pins to finish 61st and Trexler knocked down 1,102 to finish 88th. Emily Koulis finished 110th with 1,078 pins and an average of 179.
For the men, Diante Fields led the way, bowling his best performance of the season. Fields finished 10th overall with 1,316 pins and averaged 219 over the course of six games. Brian Edwards also eclipsed 1,000, finished 160th with 1,097 pins. Patrick Huebschman placed 275 with 911 pins and Sam Atkinson (867 pins) and Baylen Shoemaker (846 pins) weren't far behind.
The men knocked over 8,106 pins total and averaged 900 for the weekend.
Both the men's and women's teams will compete at the AHIBC Championship Feb. 25 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
