Mishawaka, Ind. – The Knights men's basketball team dropped a tough road contest at Bethel College Tuesday night, falling to the Pilots 104-72. Marian is now 13-16 overall this season and 4-13 in the Crossroads League with one game to go this season.

Marian got off to a slow start in tonight's contest, as the Pilots started the game on a fast 7-0 run. Marian responded to the run, as Curtis Green got the scoring started for the Knights after hitting one of his two first half three-point shots. Marian fought to trim Bethel's lead to 9-7, but the Pilots ended any chance for Marian to gain ground as they went on a 16-4 run to extend their lead. Bethel led by as many as 19 points in the first half, and took a 16-point 43-27 lead to the locker room.

After having a great shooting performance Saturday at Huntington, the Knights could not find that same success on Tuesday. Marian shot a poor 31 percent in the opening half, while going an uncharacteristic 1-of-4 from the free-throw line. The Knights finished the game shooting 37 percent from the field. On the flip side, Bethel shot over 50 percent to start the game, finishing at 58 percent, while knocking down 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Foul trouble also hurt the Knights, as Marian had four players pick up two fouls each in the first half.

The Knights adjusted early in the second half, opening with an 8-0 run in the first two minutes of the second half fueled by James Crowley and Sam Guymonmaking it an eight point ball game. The Pilots quickly put an end to that, as Bethel's Clay Yeo scored eight straight points to seal Bethel's lead, as Marian never got within 15 points over the game's final 13 minutes.

Curtis Green led Marian in scoring with 17 points. Guymon was the only other Knight to reach double-figure scoring, as he finished with 12 points and six rebounds.

Marian will host Goshen College this Saturday to close out the 2016-2017 season. Saturday is senior day and Marian will honor their three seniors Patrick Bell, James Crowley, and T Cunningham. Senior day festivities will take place prior to tip-off, which will take place around 3:00 p.m. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
