INDIANAPOLIS – The Marian football team has released its 2017 schedule as announced by head coach Mark Henninger Thursday afternoon. The Knights will once again play 10 games with six of them at St. Vincent Field.

The Knights are coming off of an 11-1 season in which they advanced to the NAIA FCS Quarterfinals. Marian was a perfect 10-0 in the regular season and won the Mid-States Football Association Mideast title. The Knights then defeated Robert Morris (Ill.) in the NAIA FCS First Round before falling to Eastern Oregon in the Quarterfinals.

Below is a game-by-game breakdown of the 2017 schedule. All times are EST.

Game 1 | at St. Xavier | August 31 | 7 p.m.

The Knights open the season on the road. Last season, Marian defeated St. Xavier 56-10 to kick off the 2016 campaign. Marian is 3-8 all-time against St. Xavier, but has won the last two.

Game 2 | vs. Robert Morris | September 9 | 1 p.m.

Marian's home opener is against a Robert Morris team it defeated twice last season. The game will kick off at 1 p.m. at St. Vincent Field. The Knights are 3-2 all-time against Robert Morris.

Game 3 | at Olivet Nazarene | September 23 | 2 p.m.

After a bye week, the Knights will be back up in northern Illinois to take on the Tigers. Marian has not been to Bourbonnais since 2012 when they opened the season with a 35-0 win.

Game 4 | vs. St. Francis (Ind.) | September 30 | 6 p.m.

The Knights will open MSFA Mideast play against the defending national champions under the lights at St. Vincent Field. Marian defeated St. Francis 35-21 last season in Fort Wayne and won the conference championship. The game will also be Family Weekend at Marian.

Game 5 | vs. St. Ambrose | October 7 | 1 p.m.

Marian is back at home to open October with another MSFA crossover game. The Knights will face St. Ambrose for the first time ever.

Game 6 | vs. Taylor | October 14 | 1 p.m.

The Knights host Taylor to close out three-straight weeks of home games. Marian defeated the Trojans 48-14 last season in Indianapolis.

Game 7 | at Concordia (Mich.) | October 21 | 1 p.m.

The Knights go on the road for the first time in MSFA play to take on a Concordia team that is under the direction of a new head coach. Marian defeated Concordia 55-13 last season.

Game 8 | vs. Siena Heights | October 28 | 1 p.m.

Marian will return home to face Siena Heights in what will be the annual Homecoming Game. Marian beat Siena Heights 59-14 last season in Adrian, Michigan.

Game 9 | vs. Missouri Baptist | November 4 | 1 p.m.

Marian's final home game of the season will be against Missouri Baptist at 1 p.m. The Knights dismantled the Spartans in St. Louis last year, 70-10.

Game 10 | at Lindenwood-Belleville | November 11 | 2 p.m.

After winning 66-0 last season against the Lynx, Marian will travel to LU-Belleville to close out the 2017 regular season. The Knights are 2-0 all-time against LU-Belleville.

Spring practice begins March 21 and will culminate with the annual Spring Game at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22.
