INDIANAPOLIS – After winning the Crossroads League championship and compiling a 17-1 record in the conference, the Marian Knights women's basketball team placed six players on the All-Crossroads League teams, while head coach Katie Gearlds earned her second-straight Crossroads League Coach of the Year honor.

Marian's backcourt duo of Jessica Almeida and Kellie Kirkhoff each earned First Team honors. The two have been steady on both ends of the floor this season. Almeida leads the team at 13.6 points per game, while shooting 49 percent from the field. She has knocked down 81 percent of her free throws and averages over a steal per game. The senior from Portugal usually draws the opponents' toughest defensive assignments as well.

Kirkhoff is right behind Almeida with 13.5 points per game and she also shoots 49 percent from the field. Kirkhoff averages 2.1 steals per game and has knocked down a team-high 52 3-pointers this season. Her 3.1 assists per game rank second on the team.

Jenna Sullivan has enjoyed a record breaking season, setting the all-time program marks in games played, rebounds and blocks. The senior earned Third Team honors after scoring 9.8 points per game and grabbing 7.8 rebounds. She's hit 31 3-pointers this season and blocked 44 shots.

Ana Kirby and Joana Soeiro were honorable mentions. Kirby averaged 9.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 51 percent (48-for-95) from downtown. Soeiro averages 5.5 assists per game and scores seven points per game as well.

Candace Danz was named to the All-Freshman Team after scoring 8.1 points per game and shooting 85 percent from the foul line. Gearlds' second Coach of the Year award comes after another Crossroads League title and a 27-3 record, which featured a 15-game winning streak to end the season.

The Knights will be back in action Friday night in the Crossroads League Tournament semifinals when they host Grace at 7 p.m.
