Haines City, Fla. – The Marian women's golf team returned to the course this weekend as the spring season has officially begun. The Knights had a very solid team performance, as they finished the weekend in second place as a team in the Start2Finish Classic, hosted by Webber International University. Individually, Annie Getzin finished in a three-way tie for first place, giving her medalist status.

Marian shot a 333 on Saturday, finishing the day 11 strokes behind Southeastern University (Fla.), while holding a six stroke lead over third place Coastal Georgia. Getzin and Taylor Wilson both finished the first day in the top ten, as Getzin finished Saturday in fourth (79), while Wilson was in a three-way tie for sixth (82).

"We are not satisfied with our scores, they speak for themselves," said coach Brett Cope. "It was a rusty performance by all. The southern teams are so far ahead of where we are at this point, but it's a long season and the Crossroads League Championship is still the important one for us.

"Congrats to Annie for her first place. She has worked hard, but she will be the first to tell you she was not on top of her game."

Sunday saw improvement from the Knights, as they shot a 331 as a team, two strokes better than Saturday. Getzin shot her second consecutive 79, which helped her push for first. The most improved golfer from day one to day two was Emily Tilton, as she made up nine strokes shooting an 82 Sunday (91 Saturday).

"We will now take a few days to enjoy the Florida weather and have fun at Harry Potter World."
