INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian men's and women's track and field teams moved the competition outside as the Knights competed in the Stan Lyons Invitational Saturday at Butler University. Both teams performed well against a field made up of mostly NCAA Division I teams.

On the women's side, Lateefah Birks placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 12.73 seconds and Raven Gibson finished eighth in the 200 meters wat 27.32 seconds. Kylee Kasper picked up a pair of top-10 finishes in the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles with times of 18.21 and 1:14.73, respectively. Maddie Kurcz competed in the same events and finished 11th in the 100 and ninth in the 400.

The quartet of Birks, Kyndal HerringTamia Mills and Destiny Patterson finished second in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 50.05, which was just behind Xavier's winning time of 49.92. In the 4x400 meter relay, Monica DudleyJenna Hedlund, Kurcz and Mills finished eighth with a time of 4:38.49. 

Mieke Paulick highlighted the field events for the women with a third place finish in the high jump at 1.51 meters. Amelia Robben placed sixth in the long jump, clearing 4.72 meters and Mills was ninth at 4.58 meters. In the triple jump, Robben finished fifth at 9.99 meters. The Knights earned another tip five finish in the shot put as Katie Prendergast finished fifth with a throw of 9.75 meters. She then finished second in the discus at 31.37 meters. 

For the men, Richard Von Behr finished third in the 100 meters at 11.04 seconds and then picked up a second-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 22.36 seconds. Zach Sneiderwine finished fourth in the 200 at 22.50 seconds and Aaron Murray crossed the line seventh in 22.81 seconds. Taylor Killings finished 12th in the 200.

In the 400 meters, Loyola (Ill.) earned the top three spots, but James Bryant picked up a fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 51.03 seconds. In the 4x100 meter relay, Sogo AkinyosoyeMoussa CondeBryan Goodin and Marcellion Gardner finished second in 43.25, which was just behind UIC's winning time of 42.90. In the 4x400 relay, Marcus Griffin, Killings, Murray and Sneiderwine finished fifth in 3:39.31. 

Emil Belmontes earned the only first place finish for the Knights in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters and Garrett Johnson cleared 4.30 meters in the pole vault. Drezden Johnson cleared 6.40 meters in the long jump and finished third, while Jonah Mikel finished fifth in the shot put at 11.44 meters. Mikel also finished fourth in the discus at 36.96 meters and Johnson earned another third place finish in the javelin with a throw of 48 meters. Andrew Boyle was eighth in the javelin at 35.85 meters.
