LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Marian men's and women's track and field teams continued their solid performances to start the outdoor season, winning both the men's and the women's competitions Saturday at the Pioneer Open at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.

For the men, Richard Von Behr and DeVohn Jackson finished second and third in the 100 meters with times of 11.37 and 11.43, respectively. The two then finished in the same positions in the 200 meters with times of 22.42 and 22.64, respectively. In the 400 meters, Zach Sneiderwine took the top spot in 49.47 seconds, while Mychal Vinson finished third. James Bryant also came home a winner, taking the top spot in the 800 in 1:58.64. Bryson Tretter and Marcos Keefe were also in the top 10 at sixth and 10th, respectively. 

Marian dominated the 1,500 meters as Presley Martin won, Isaak Haas finished second and Tretter finished fourth. Daniel Santos finished ninth in the 5,000 meters. Taylor Killings continued to rack up first place finishes, earning the top spot in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.05 seconds. Killings also finished 10th in the 400 meter hurdles, while Marcus Griffin took fifth. 

The Knights owned the 3,000 meter steeplechase with the top three spots going to Gabriel Ocasio, Haas and Scott Prewitt. Marian's 4x400 meter relay team also finished first as Emil Belmontes, Griffin, Bryant and Sneiderwine won by almost seven seconds. 

In the field events, Belmontes finished second in the high jump, while Jonathan Greene picked up a fourth place finish. Garrett Johnson won the pole vault, while Greene finished fifth in the long jump and Drezden Johnson finished third. Greene's solid day continued in the triple jump as he finished fourth and Belmontes finished ninth. In the throwing events, Jonah Mikel finished fifth in the shot put, eighth in the discus and ninth in the hammer.

On the women's side, Destiny Patterson finished fourth in the 100 meters, while Raven Gibson finished second in the 200 meters and third in the 400. In the 800, Rachel Dever finished fourth in 2:33.38 and Morgan Hayse came in 10th. Marian placed three runners in the top four of the 1,500 meters as Kiersten Schrope took first in five minutes flat, Dever second, Anna Dudley fourth and Monica Dudley eighth. Brittany Sharp won the 5,000 meters in 20:05.95, while Marie Didion took seventh.

Three Knights finished in the top 10 in the 100 meter hurdles with Mieke Paulick's time of 16 seconds earning second, while Tamia Mills came in fourth and Hope Spaulding finished sixth. Kylee Kasper and Maddie Kurcz finished fifth and sixth in the 400 meter hurdles, respectively. In the 4x400 meter relay, Monica Dudley, Anna Dudley, Gibson and Kyndal Herring finished second in 4:15.31. 

In the field events, Paulick won the high jump by clearing 1.57 meters. Mills took second in the long jump and Amelia Robben finished fifth. Robben then took first in the triple jump by clearing 10.87 meters. In the throwing events, Katie Prendergast finished third with a throw of 10.68 meters. Prendergast also took fourth in the discus and sixth in the hammer.
