INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian men's tennis team battled in every match, but fell to NCAA Division I foe Eastern Illinois, 7-2, Sunday at the Community Healthplex in Indianapolis. The loss snaps Marian's three-match win streak.

Despite winning only two matches, Marian took three singles matches to three sets and also scored at least four points in every doubles match. At No. 2 doubles, Ian Deiters and Marty Pochop won 8-4, while Nathan Bogle and Danny Albert lost by the same score at No. 1. Alex Wittenbaum and Marcus Hirsch nearly gave Marian a 2-1 advantage, but lost 9-8(5) at No. 3.

In singles play, Pochop went three sets with Gage Kingsmith at No. 1, but fell 6-3, 1-6, 10-7. Bogle dropped his match at No. 2 6-4, 6-4, while Albert picked up the lone singles win for Marian, winning 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 at No. 3. At No. 4, Wittenbaum lost 6-3, 6-1 and Deiters fell 6-3, 6-7(6), 10-6 at No. 5. Hirsch lost 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.
