WILMORE, Ky. - The Marian women's lacrosse team staged a second half comeback, but it was not enough as the Knights fell 13-12 at Asbury Tuesday in Wilmore, Kentucky. Marian is 5-6 on the season after the loss.

Asbury scored nine goals in the first half and took a three-goal lead into the halftime locker room. It took just over five minutes for the Eagles to put two goals in the back of the net, but Marian was able to respond with two of its own thanks to Julia Robson and Morgan Bruce. The tie game didn't last long as Asbury scored three minutes after Bruce's equalizer and netted two more to take a 5-2 advantage.

Again though, the Knights battled back. Robson scored again with 13:37 to play in the half and Bailee Enlow followed with another goal. Kori Garland then brought the the two back to even terms with a goal at the 9:21 mark. The Eagles answered the Marian run with four goals before Garland scored again with 22 seconds to play in the half.

The deficit grew in the second half as Asbury scored four of the first five goals to take a 13-7 lead. Reagan Riddle scored Marian's goal with 21:11 to play. Down six with just over 10 minutes to play, Marian staged a furious rally. It started with a Riddle goal off an assist from Bruce with 6:38 to play. Robson then scored with 5:31 to play and eight seconds later Rachel Moning found the back of the net as well. Robson came up with her fourth goal of the game with 4:54 to play and Moning scored again with 51 seconds remaining.

However, Asbury held off a final push from the Knights and Marian was handed a one-goal loss. Robson led Marian with four goals on seven shots. Moning, Garland and Riddle each had two goals, while Casey Monahan made 10 saves in the net.

Marian will host Bethel Thursday at 4 p.m. at St. Vincent Field. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
