INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian men's and women's track and field teams hosted the Knight Open Friday at Marian University in Indianapolis. The two teams each performed well in the lone home meet of the season.

On the men's side, Marian dominated the 100 meters, claiming the top three spots and four of the top 10. Moussa Conde, who had a stellar day, won the race in 10.69 seconds. Sogo Akinyosoye finished second in 10.84 seconds and Richard Von Behr was right behind in third at 10.94 seconds. DeVohn Jackson finished eighth in 11.30 seconds.

Conde was at it again in the 200 meters, winning the race in 21.29 seconds, which tied the Marian program record. Akinyosoye finished third in 22.24 seconds. Zach Sneiderwine claimed first place in the 400 meters with a time of 50.06 seconds, while Michael Schiefelbein finished third in 50.76 seconds. Presley Martin took fifth place in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:05.00, while Gabe Ocasio was just outside the top 10 in 11th place. In the 5000 meters, Isaak Haas finished second in 15:22.99, and Conor Smith placed seventh.

Taylor Killings continued his excellent showings in the 110 meter hurdles, winning the race in 14.23 seconds. Marcus Griffin finished sixth with a time of 15.89 seconds. Griffin then finished second in the 400 meter hurdles at 56.43 seconds, which was 0.02 seconds behind the first place finisher. Ocasio took 10th in 1:01.52.

In the 3000 meter steeplechase Scott Prewitt finished fourth. The Knights A 4x100 relay team took second in 42.39 seconds, while the B team finished fifth in 44.72 seconds. In the 4x800 meter relay, the Knights finished second in 8:13.83. The 4x400 B team won the race in 3:20.95, while the C team took third in 3:28.67.

In the field events, Marian swept the high jump, earning the top three finishers. Jonathon Greene finished first at 1.95 meters, while Jeremy Shupperd and Emil Belmontes finished second at 1.90 meters. Logan Clonce was right behind in fourth. Greene also finished fourth in the long jump at 6.47 meters, while Belmontes took third in the triple jump and Bryan Goodin finished fourth.

Garrett Johnson and Clayton Wilson earned the top two spots in the pole vault at 4.25 meters. Drezden Johnson finished third in the javelin at 47.94 meters, while Shupperd finished fifth and Andrew Boyle took sixth. 

For the women, Lateefah Birks won the 100 meters 12.34 seconds, and just missed out on winning the 200 meters, finishing in 25.33 seconds, which was 0.05 out of first. Kiersten Schrope finished sixth in the 1500 meters in 4:52.91. Brittany Sharp claimed fourth place in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:48.54 and Monica Dudley finished seventh. 

Hope Spaulding and Kylee Kasper finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 meter hurdles, while Maddie KurczMieke Paulick and Miranda Schutte finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Kasper then took second in the 400 meter hurdles, while Kurcz finished fifth and Spaulding finished seventh. In the 4x100 meter relay, Marian's B team took second in 52.19 seconds. In the 4x400 meter relay, Marian finished third in 4:09.04.

Paulick tied for second in the high jump with a leap of 1.51 meters. Kyndal Herring then finished second in the long jump at 5.28 meters, and Tamia Mills took fifth at 5.00 meters. Amelia Robben won the triple jump in 10.50 meters. Britta Beyer took ninth in the hammer throw with a toss of 45.07 meters and Marie Didion took fifth in the javelin at 16.94 meters.
