BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The Marian women's lacrosse team defeated Lindenwood-Belleville 8-6 Sunday afternoon in Belleville, Illinois, sweeping the season series. Marian is back to .500 with the win at 7-7.

The Lynx got out to an early 2-0 lead, scoring two goals in the first four minutes. Marian answered back with three goals, including two from Miranda Bridges and another from Kori GarlandCasey Monahan and Julia Robson picked up assists on the second two goals.

LU-Belleville tied the game at three apiece near the end of the first half on a Kendall Colston goal with 4:45 left to play.

In the second half, Morgan Bruce assisted Garland on a goal four minutes into the half. After LU-Belleville answered with a goal three minutes later, Marian scored three goals in a row. Garland netted two and Bruce added another to give Marian a 7-4 advantage. With 10 minutes to play, India Cyr brought the Lynx within two, but Bridges completed her hat trick with a goal at the 6:29 mark.

Lindenwood added one more goal with five minutes to play, but the Knights held off the rally and came away with their second win of the season against the Lynx. LU-Belleville outshot Marian 27-17 and won the ground ball battle 23-19. Monahan made 13 saves in the net.
