INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian women's lacrosse team reeled off eight-straight goals to start the game and never looked back, defeating Bethel 19-8 Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis. The win makes Marian 8-7 on the season.

Reagan Riddle found the back of the net just 18 seconds into the game off an assist from Bailee Enlow and that set the tone for how the first half would go. Before the game was five minutes old, Riddle had added another goal, while Julia Robson scored two off assists from Sierra Schemenauer and assisted another for Morgan Bruce.

Bethel called an early timeout and Marian continued to pour it on afterwards. Bruce scored two more goals off assists from Riddle and Robson, and then Robson scored off a pass from Rachel Moning.

Bethel broke through at the 17:21 mark with its first goal, but Bruce was quick to answer, scoring two minutes later on a pass from Schemenauer. Robson then scored her fourth goal of the half three minutes later. Bethel added another goal with 10:18 to play in the half before Riddle and DeAnna Maaserani scored off assists from Schemenauer and Robson, respectively. Bethel scored with 30 seconds left, but Kori Garland netted her first goal just before time expired to give Marian a 13-3 lead at the break.

Up by 10 to start the half, the clock was running from the start and Marian extended its lead on a Maaserani goal from Enlow just a minute in. Bethel staged a small comeback, scoring four-straight goals to pull within seven, but Robson snapped the skid with a goal at the 17 minute mark off a pass from Moning. Allison Coffeen scored Bethel's last goal of the game before Marian ripped off four-straight goals to finish the game. Robson had the first three, while Bruce scored the final goal.

The Knights had no issues finding shots, outshooting Bethel 43-19 and winning the draw control battle 22-6. Marian also held a slight advantage in ground balls. In the net, Casey Monahan made eight saves. Robson led the way offensively, finishing with eight goals, three assists and five ground balls. Bruce scored five goals on six shots.

Marian will face Aquinas Saturday at 1 p.m. in Michigan. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight Merchandise, photos, and more.
