UPLAND, Ind. - The Marian baseball team lost 15-3 in the Crossroads League Tournament final against top-seeded Huntington Wednesday afternoon at Taylor University. The Knights are 29-21 heading into the NAIA National Tournament.

Everything went smoothly to start the game as the Knights got on the board in the top of the first inning when Cody Earl hit an RBI single to score Zack St. Pierre. The run gave MU starter Cody Chandler some early support and Chandler blanked the Foresters in the first two innings, allowing just one hit.

However, the Huntington bats woke up in the bottom of the third and Foresters scored three runs on a two hits with a two-RBI triple providing the highlight of the inning for HU. In the fourth, James Catanzarite was in to pitch and Huntington added six more runs with four coming on a grand slam. Marian got two back an inning later on a solo home run from Leo Lopez and an RBI single from St. Pierre.

Once again, Huntington answered, matching the two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Foresters added two more in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 15-3 lead, which would hold up the remainder of the game.

Chandler took the loss for the Knights, while Marian's bats totaled seven hits. Three belonged to St. Pierre and Devon Zachary finished with two. Marian will find out where it will travel for the NAIA Tournament Opening Round during the selection show Thursday at 4 p.m. ET. Fans can access the show here.
