Mobile, Ala. - The Marian Knights ended their 2016-17 season early Tuesday afternoon, falling to #11 University of Mobile 7-2. Marty Pochop and Nathan Bogle provided Marian with two wins, both coming in their singles matches. The Knights end their season with a record of 16-10.

Marian started off with a slow start to the match, losing all three of the doubles matches. The duo of Nathan Bogle/Danny Albert lost 8-1 at No.1, while Ian Deiters/Marty Pochop were defeated 8-4 at No. 2. In No. 3 doubles, Alex Wittenbaum and Kirby Tobin held a 7-6 match point advantage, but a line call by the judge gave Mobile the momentum swing. The Rams rallied back to take the set 9-7. 

The Knights struggled in singles play, losing two straight matches. Tobin lost at No. 6 6-0, 6-0, then moments later Albert lost 6-0, 6-3 at No.3, clinching the match for the Rams. Marian recieved wins from Pochop 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Bogle 3-6, 6-3, and 10-2 in a third set tiebreaker. Wittenbaum and Deiters were defeated at No. 4 and 5 singles, losing 7-6, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-3, respectively.
