CLERMONT, Fla. - The Marian softball team will open up play in the NAIA World Series Friday night against Corban University at 8 p.m. in Clermont, Florida. The Knights enter as the third seed after winning the Costa Mesa Bracket in the opening round, while Corban is the sixth seed.

Marian is ranked fourth in the country with a record of 47-4 overall and won the regular season and postseason tournament championships in the Crossroads League. The Knights then went 3-0 in Costa Mesa, California, to advance to the NAIA World Series for the second-straight season and third time overall.

Corban enters the tournament with a record of 43-11 and won the Columbia, Kentucky, opening round bracket, which included a win over Taylor and two over Madonna. Corban is on a three-game winning streak after losing its conference tournament final to Southern Oregon.

First pitch is set for 8 p.m. in Clermont.
