KANSAS CITY - Marian baseball's Matt Burleton has been named an NAIA All-America Honorable Mention as announced by the NAIA Tuesday afternoon. Burleton is one of three Crossroads League members to be named to the All-America teams.

The award caps a stellar season for the lefty, as he was named the 2017 Crossroads League Pitcher of the Year and earned First Team All-Crossroads League honors. He appeared in 16 games for the Knights and made 10 starts, posting a season record of 8-2. Burleton recorded three saves in his six relief opportunities and tossed 84.2 innings, while boasting an ERA of 1.17.

Burleton pitched four complete games, going 3-1 in such outings. He threw 91 strikeouts, which led the Crossroads League in 2017. As conference play began, Burleton grew stronger. He had a perfect month of April, going 4-0 in five outings. He ranked number one in NAIA in total earned runs allowed (11) and total ERA (1.17), ranked second amongst all NAIA pitchers in opposing batting average (.178), ranked third in the NAIA in hits allowed per 9 innings (5.63), ranked fourth in the NAIA total runs allowed (18) .

Burleton's best outing of the season came against Indiana Wesleyan in the first game of the Crossroads League Tournament when he threw a complete-game, one-run, four-hitter while striking out 14 batters.
