INDIANAPOLIS - Lauren Davis has been named the new assistant athletics director for student-athlete services as announced by Marian athletic director Steve Downing Wednesday afternoon. Davis is entering her third year at Marian and spent the previous two as the head women's lacrosse coach.

"For the past year Lauren has been working as an academic advisor, while serving as the lacrosse coach," said Downing. "She will now be able to focus her full efforts on the student-athlete services position and I feel that this will greatly benefit our athletic department."

In her new role, Davis will no longer coach lacrosse in order to focus on her new duties. She will work closely with faculty academic advisors to help student-athletes understand degree requirements and develop responsible academic planning, while also working with faculty to assist in assessing student-athlete course performance. Davis will work closely with the Faculty Athletic Representative, faculty academic advisors, and Registrar to monitor NAIA eligibility, degree requirements, and class schedules to meet specific athletic needs.

"I am extremely blessed to accept this position and would like to thank Mr. Downing for the opportunity," said Davis. "I am excited to move into a new role and work with the student-athletes at Marian University, but would also like to thank everyone associated with the lacrosse program for a great inaugural season."

Davis led the Knights lacrosse team in its inaugural season and finished with a 9-8 record. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
