TAYLOR, Ind. - After suffering a tough loss last Saturday to Indiana Wesleyan, the Marian men's tennis team earned their second win of the season after a dominating 8-1 win over Taylor University. The Knights swept doubles play and won five of six matches in the singles competition. The win gives the men's team a 2-1 overall record this season. 

Marian started the match with the bold unit of Nathan Bogle and Ian Deiters winning their third match of the year, as they defeated Jake Herbruck and Christen Jaquottet 8-5 at No. 1. In No. 2 doubles play, Alex Wittenbaum and Noah Roberts won by the same margin of 8-5, knocking off Andre Danelli and Salvador Lo Cascio. Marian finished doubles strong, as Turner Lesnick and Nicholas Marroquin won their match 9-7 over Alex Jung and Stephen All at No. 3 doubles.

Keeping their foot on the pedal, the Knights took control of the match by dominating the singles rounds. Bogle won his match 6-2, 6-2, with Deiters taking his outing 6-3, 6-1. For singles three through five, Roberts and Wittenbaum both won 6-1, 6-3, while Marroquin won his round 6-4, 1-6, 10-8. 

The Knights strong performance puts them in fourth place in the Crossroads League standings. Marian will next hit the courts this Saturday when the Knights travel to Goshen College. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
