INDIANAPOLIS - Marian football's Derrick Short and Johnny William have been named the Mid-States Football Association Players of the Week as announced by the conference Monday afternoon. Short earned defensive honors, while William grabbed the offensive honors.

Short recorded the first interception of his career in Saturday's win over No. 13 Robert Morris and he also finished second on the team in tackles with 5.5. William had a career day with career-highs in catches, yards and touchdowns. He caught a trio of TDs, making him the first Marian player to do so since Krishawn Hogan in November 2016. One of William's touchdowns was a brilliant 60-yard catch and run. For the day, he finished with 10 catches for 197 yard and three touchdowns.

The Knights are on a bye week before traveling to Olivet Nazarene Sept. 23. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
