CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - For the second-straight game, the Marian men's soccer team fell by a 1-0 score as the Knights lost on a second half penalty kick to No. 9 Campbellsville Tuesday night in Campbellsville, Kentucky. The loss makes Marian 1-4 on the season.

"We went toe-to-toe on the road with the No. 9 ranked team in the nation and I could not be more proud of our commitment, effort and ability to play in a hostile environment against a very good opponent," said head coach Ernie Yarborough. "I told the team afterwards that that is what we want to build Marian soccer to be."

The Knights gave the No. 9 Tigers all they could handle as the two teams went to the break scoreless. Campbellsville took five first half shots compared to Marian's one, but MU goalkeeper Sidney Miranda was only forced to make one save. Shortly after the start of the second half, the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick and Nathan Heath beat Miranda.

Marian would not go down without a fight, taking six shots before full time. The Knights were unable to find the back of the net and came up just short. Campbellsville outshot Marian 11-7 and held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Elijah Zorniger and Hamed Sidibe each took two shots for the Knights, while Miranda made three saves.

Marian will host Oakland City Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
