CARMEL, Ind. - Friday afternoon the women's cross country team placed second out of eight teams at the Marian Cross Country Invitational, held at Northview Church in Carmel, Ind. Marian came in second to Taylor University, while placing two individual runners in the top 10. All eight teams were Crossroads League opponents.

Taylor's 23 points won the meet, beating Marian by 40 points. The Knights edged out Indiana Wesleyan who finished third with 75 points, while Spring Arbor took fourth with 86 points. 

Camryn Butz had the top finish for the Knights, as she took seventh place in  19:56.85. Brittany Sharp edged out her teammate Rachel Dever to finish tenth in the race. Sharp completed the 5K in 20:04.75 while Dever finished in 20:13.77. Kiersten Schrope rounded out the final top 15 performance for the hosts, coming in 13th in 20:22.06. Sarah Wieser finished 22nd with a time of 20:52.59.

The Knights will take a week off from competing before going to Louisville, Ky. on September 30 to compete in the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
