INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Marian College baseball team traveled to Fort
Wayne, Ind., to take on the 38th-ranked Indiana Tech Warriors in Fort
Wayne, Ind., on Thursday evening. The Knights battled with the
Warriors, but came out on the short end suffering their third straight
defeat, 2-0. The loss drops Marian's record to 7-14-1 on the season.
"I thought we played really well today," said head coach
Kurt Guldner.
"We battled with a good team and hit the ball hard. However, they made
some good plays and we showed some spirit late, but just could not get
a run home."
Senior right fielder
Derek Malikian (Charlottesville, Va./New River CC) went 2-for-4 on the day while seniors
Joel Strode (Canton, Ill./Canton) and
Jason Moon (Anderson, Ind./Anderson) and freshman
Mike Keltz (Avon, Ind./Avon) each added a hit for the Knights. Keltz pitched his first career complete game, a four-hitter with two strikeouts.
The Knights return to the friendly confines of Marian Baseball Field on
Saturday when they play host to the Golden Eagles of Spalding
University in a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
