INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Marian College baseball team plays host to the Spalding University Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Marian Baseball Field. The Knights come into Saturday's doubleheader having dropped their last three games to nationally-ranked foes, but come in with confidence high.

The Knights and Eagles met to open the 2007 campaign for Marian College with Spalding pulling out the first game and the teams having play stopped in the second game with a 3-3 tie.

Senior Joel Strode (Canton, Ill./Canton) continues to lead the Knights in hitting with a .338 average while senior Derek Malikian (Charlottesville, Va./New River CC) has hammered four home runs, four doubles and a triple. Freshman Mike Keltz (Avon, Ind./Avon) is hitting .306 and is second on the team with two long balls and leads the team in doubles with five. Sophomore Josh Terrell (Richmond, Va./Danville JC) leads the Knights with nine stolen bases while senior Jeff Brunette (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) is 3-1 with a 2.65 ERA and four complete games in five starts.

The Knights host Spalding then hit the road on Thursday for MCC action when they take on Huntington at Forester Park. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
